Wrinkles Treatment with Botulinum Toxin & Dermal Fillers

There are a few different reasons to have treatment with botulinum toxin (Dysport® or Botox® or Xeomin®) and dermal filler. Prevention of new wrinkles is one of the most important reasons, as well as the softening of the current lines.
The treatment of wrinkles depends on whether they are
- Dynamic lines – wrinkles that are made worse when you animate or express yourself, such as when frowning or laughing – or
- Static lines – that remain regardless of your expression.
What are Dynamic Lines Wrinkles?
Dynamic lines or wrinkles occur when we use our muscles to form facial expressions. When we smile or frown, our muscles contract and cause our skin to wrinkle.
For example, when we smile, our eye wrinkles become prominent and when we frown the vertical lines between our eyebrows become noticeable.
When we are young, our skin springs back to its original position when we finish making the facial expression because we have lots of collagen and elastin in our skin. Unfortunately, as we get older the dynamic wrinkles remain on the skin to form static wrinkles.
Treatment of Dynamic Lines with Botulinum Toxin
Dynamic Lines are best treated using Botulinum toxin, a safe, purified protein that relaxes muscles that can cause wrinkles. Treatment with Botulinum toxin is painless and safe, and the effects will last for three to four months.
What are Static Lines?
Static lines or wrinkles are the wrinkles and folds that are present at rest or when we are not forming facial expressions.
They develop as we get older because natural substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid that provide the skin with structure and volume decrease with age.
The loss of skin structure and volume means that the skin is less able to spring back to its initial position after a facial expression, and as a result, static wrinkles or fold lines will form. If we pull these lines apart then we can pretty much gauge how much we can soften our lines with Dysport® or Botox® Xeomin® over time.

Static Lines can be treated using a combination of Botulinum toxin and Dermal Fillers (which can be found in the Dermal Filler section of our website). I prefer the hyaluronic acid family of fillers as they can be used just about anywhere.
The biggest advantage is that with a lunch-time procedure you can walk out with an instant result, with only a small risk of bruising.
Products to help you prevent Wrinkles
Of course, nothing beats prevention when it comes to wrinkles.
There are some good, reliable, and safe skincare products that will rejuvenate your skin, restoring your natural beauty – The XCell range is great for this as they have a lactic acid serum and stem cell treatments in their range.
Boosting Collagen to Reduce Wrinkles
More active approaches to boosting your own collagen depend on the amount of downtime you are willing to accept. The basic concept of building collagen depends on controlled stimulation of your skin to make your own collagen.
We trick your brain into thinking your skin has been damaged and it responds by sending out more collagen and elastin to heal your skin. More collagen and elastin means a decrease in the fine lines and wrinkles on your face, and general skin tightening.
We can decide to heat your skin, with IPL for example, peel it, with anything ranging from our lightweight Vitamin A peel right through to our Super Jessner peel, injure it with tiny needles using the derma stamp or dermapen treatment, or use a softer microdermabrasion treatment.
Having a clinic-based treatment on your skin every 4-6 weeks will improve your skin to an enviable level, reducing wrinkles. If you want to kick your treatment up another notch, you would encompass PRP treatments or even the U225 gun with hyaluronic acid and PRP into the surface or your skin.
