This spot is a special treat for all the animal lovers out there! New Zealand is known for its wild style especially when it comes to animal and sea creatures. Kelly Tarlton’s Sea Life aquarium is one place you just cannot miss as they have something for everyone. Located just about 4 miles from downtown Auckland, you can easily reach the aquarium by road since it is so centrally located. If you feel lost, then Google Maps can definitely help you out with that.
At this aquarium, you can be a witness to the world’s largest colony of penguins. Watch them hang out in their environment and enjoy the beauty of their mannerisms. This is an experience which you may not ever get again in the future. If you love penguins, then the Penguin Passport is what you must go for. With the Penguin Passport, you get to hang out with penguins for the first time ever in New Zealand. You get to have an encounter of a lifetime with these penguins on ice. With this ticket, you can explore the icy enclosure at the aquarium made especially for the amazing adorable penguins. You also get an opportunity to interact with them. The enclosure has King and Gentoo penguins.
As a part of the Penguin Passport, you also get a chance to have a question and answer session with the penguin keeper of the enclosure and you can ask them about anything and everything under the sun! You couldn’t have asked for a more intimate penguin experience!
The Shark Cage Adventure
The Shark Cage Adventure is way more adventurous than the Penguin Passport as you get to be closer than ever to sharks, the predators of the ocean, up close and personal. This unique snorkelling experience is safe yet extremely thrilling. For this session, you do not require any prior snorkelling or diving experience and can just take the plunge and be blown away by the amazing views the ocean has to offer. Before the actual snorkelling session starts, you get to spend some time learning about the basics with a trained instructor so that you can go in uninhibited.
Six people go in for one session and you are placed in a cage submerged in the ocean. While you are there, you can see humongous stingrays floating by, a lot of local marine fauna and many species of sharks like the Wobbegong sharks, the School sharks and the Broadnose Sevengill sharks. If you are ready for a day filled with excitement and adventure, then this is the place to be.
