The Vital Injector 2 needling treatment

The Vital Injector 2 is a mega-hydrator and a needling treatment all in one – as we move into our late 30s and 40s we tend to develop deepening lines up our necks and at the sides of our face. These can be particularly prevalent if we are wine drinkers due to the accelerated process of Glycation (see our blog post).

Typically, in order to treat these lines, it has been necessary to inject mid-grade fillers and have many treatments with PRP to begin to lighten them up.

Now, we have the Vital Injector – a revolutionary system out of Korea. The Vital Injector deposits skin boosters (fine hyaluronic acid droplets) superficially into the skin.

The result – beautiful, plump, hydrated skin – a phenomenal decrease in fine lines, and even a decrease in deeper lines in the neck and sides of the face.

How does it Work?

There are 2 aspects to the Vital Injector 2 gun. One is the action of the needling effect itself with the gun, and second is the fact that it deposits small droplets of hyaluronic acid (HA) under the skin.  Needling has been shown to decrease fine lines and broken capillaries, decrease pigment, and generally improve the texture of the skin.  HA draws 1000 times its weight in water, so it has a mega-hydration effect.

Couple the 2 things together and you have a mega-treatment.

We prefer using Redensity [I] as the HA of preference, although we have tested all the brands of HA for use with the gun and we can offer whichever brand you prefer.  The reason we prefer it is because we have found it to have smoother effects and this product also has extra antioxidants within it, which have, amongst other things, shown a whitening effect which the Asian and Indian communities, in particular, hunt for.

Another treatment we are finding amazing in whitening with the gun is to also have PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatments through this vehicle.  If you want a really fabulous, whitening effect, talk to one of our therapists about a specific regime developed just for your skin.

Is it Painful?

It can prickle because it is a needling therapy, but the treatment is generally performed after applying a skin-numbing cream.  Stress levels can also determine the level of pain you experience.

Downtime

Some skins will show marks for up to 7 days, but most appear to be fine to go straight back to work the next day and sometimes immediately after treatment, although skin can be a little red. Using the healing foundation Oxygenetix (see our other page) covers any markings well.

Technical Jargon

Vital Injector 2 is the innovative, upgraded version of the original Vital Injector, an Aqua Lifting Automatic Injector. It has adopted the newest technology to use 5 needles (and now 9 needles) simultaneously, which maximizes the effects and shortens the time of the treatment. It has also adopted the disposable filter system, which offers safe treatments in a hygienic environment.

Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid (S-HA) is used for soft tissue augmentation and can also be used for dermal hydration.

Tested on 150 patients, with 1000 injections of S-HA by the injector, examined after 1, 2, 6, 12, and 24 months, changes in skin texture, large skin pores, acne scarring, nasolabial folds and fine wrinkles in thick skin were shown to vastly improve.  Dryness and wrinkles on the upper lip and crow’s feet became healthier and tightened.  Some whitening effect by skin revitalisation was shown.  A further study showed that injection superficially to the skin showed more effect than deeper injections. After only one treatment patients with thin, dry skin showed improvements.  4 weeks after the injections the dermal thickness of the skin on the hands showed improvement.  New collagen fibres were found around the microdroplets after 2 weeks.

We have been doing our own studies with the Vital Injector 2 and using it in conjunction with PRP gives you improved results over just skin boosters alone.

Hyaluronic acid (HA), which is naturally present in our body, performs a fundamental role in keeping the skin in good health. This essential element of the dermis retains water like a sponge, so as to maintain its hydration.

Benefits of hyaluronic acid & how does it work?

With age, we can lose up to 2/3rds of our hyaluronic acid pool. At 35 years of age, the skin’s thickness has decreased on average by about 22%. As it gets thinner, the skin becomes more fragile, dehydrates, and its elasticity diminishes. Just like an apple that dries, skin that is deprived of its sources of hydration will lose its shine with the passage of time.

The hyaluronic acid injections are designed to prevent premature ageing of our skin and to boost the radiance of our face. The hyaluronic acid injections compensate for the natural loss of this substance and stimulate the auto-production of collagen

How long do the effects last?

Hyaluronic acid is an absorbable molecule, meaning its effects are temporary and depend on several factors: skin type, age, treated area, and injection technique. For an optimal result, an initial protocol of 3 sessions and maintenance sessions 2-3 times a year are recommended.
